JACKSONVILLE, Illinois - The Prairie Fire softball team dropped a conference doubleheader to Illinois College on Wednesday.

Knox (4-18, 0-8 MWC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game one, but the Lady Blues responded with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. IC added two more runs in the second and two each in the fourth and sixth innings to win 10-2.

The Prairie Fire fell behind early in game two when the Lady Blues scored five runs in the bottom of the first. IC went on to take an 8-0 lead, but Knox put a run on the board in the fourth inning to break the shutout. The Lady Blues added a run in the bottom half, but the Prairie Fire showed more life in the top of the fifth by scoring a pair. IC then scored in the bottom half to end the game early.

Kenzie Funk led Knox at the plate with four hits in seven at bats. She scored a run and drove in two on the day. Kristen Koviekis and Emily Stevenson each added a pair of hits. Koviekis doubled and drove in a run as well. Stevenson also knocked a double.

The Prairie Fire will return home to host Beloit on April 21.
