JACKSONVILLE, Illinois—The Prairie Fire baseball team split a doubleheader with Illinois College on Sunday to conclude the season.

Knox (11-24, 3-16 MWC) fell behind early in game one when the Blueboys scored a pair in the first inning. The Prairie Fire scored one in the third to cut the lead to 2-1, but IC came back with three more runs in the bottom half to take a 5-1 lead. Knox added runs in the fourth and fifth to again cut into the deficit, but the Blueboys tacked on a run in the fifth and cruised to a 6-3 victory.

The Prairie Fire showed some life early in game two when they scored four in the first inning. IC scored a run in the third, but Knox added a pair in the fourth. The Blueboys plated two in the fifth and the Prairie Fire responded with a run in the top of the sixth. IC came up just short in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three runs before lightning forced an end to the game. Knox came away with the 7-6 win.

Paul Sanders led the Prairie Fire at the plate with four hits in nine at bats. He scored a run, drove in a run, and snatched a pair of bases. Brendan Powers, Adam Brown, and Brady Sember each added three hits. Tristyn Ruiz and Nick Piller also came away with multi-hit efforts on the day. Powers and James each drove in a pair of runs.

Trevan Lowtharp earned the win on the mound and Mario Fusco came in for the two-out save in game two.
