Box Score 2 EDWARDSVILLE, Illinois—The Prairie Fire baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Greenville on Thursday afternoon.

The Panthers struck first with a three-run first inning in game one, but Knox held them scoreless before allowing them to score again in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Prairie Fire got on the board after Brendan Powers knocked a double to lead off the top of the sixth and came around to score on a wild pitch. Tristan Hannah reached second base later in the inning, but he would be left on base as the last baserunner Knox could muster. Greenville held on for the 4-1 victory.

The Prairie Fire scored first in the second game with a run in the second inning, but the Panthers responded with a run of their own in the bottom half. Greenville tacked on another in the third, but Knox plated two in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. The Panthers took advantage of some Prairie Fire miscues to score four in the fifth inning. They held on for the 6-3 win.

Chase Thies went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI in his collegiate debut to lead Knox at the plate. Spencer Bauer finished 2-for-5 on the day and Brendan Powers banged a pair of hits in six at bats. Bauer bashed two doubles while Powers and Thies each added one.

The Prairie Fire are scheduled to host Millikin on March 2, but that game may get moved to another location and date.
