Box Score 2 FORT MYERS, Florida - The Prairie Fire softball team dropped a pair of games in the third day of the Gene Cusic Classic.
University of Pittsburgh at Bradford scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead and added on one run in the third to expand their lead. Knox responded with one run in both the third and fifth inning. The Panthers added two more runs in the seventh inning and held on for an 8-2 victory.
The second game saw North Central College pull ahead early as they scored three runs in the first two innings, but the Prairie Fire responded with 2 runs of their own to make the score 3-2 at the bottom of the fourth. The Cardinals put up 7 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a commanding lead and seal the game by a score of 10-2.
Katy Coseglia finished with five hits and three RBI on the day for the Prairie Fire. Clara Hensley finished with three hits and an RBI and Katy Coseglia, Britney Salinas and Cammie Stein each added two hits for Knox.
"So far Florida has been a great learning experience," said head coach Erin Rutledge. "The team is coming together and working out all the issues little by little. We are playing well against some tough competition."Â
Knox returns to action on March 18 for  the Gene Cusic Classic against The College at Brockport and University of Minnesota Morris.
