Box Score 2 FORT MYERS, Florida - The Prairie Fire softball team split a pair of games in the final day of the Gene Cusic Classic.
The College at Brockport scored 10 runs in the first inning to take a commanding lead. Knox responded with 3 runs of their own to make the score 10-3 at the top of the third, but The Golden Eagles added 3 runs in the bottom of the third to seal the game by a score of 14-3.
The second game saw The Prairie Fire pull ahead early as they scored two runs in the first inning. University of Minnesota Morris answered with two runs to tie up the game at the bottom of the third. Knox put up 2 runs in each of the next two innings and heald on for an 6-3 victory.
Casey Hipp and Kylie Wolf each added 4 hits and 3 RBI on the day for the Prairie Fire.
"After a tough first loss today we came back strong in the second game and held on to the lead" said head coach Erin Rutledge. "It feels great to end our spring break trip on a high note"
Knox returns to action on March 23 for their first home game of the season against MacMurray College.
