GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to tough opponents on Sunday.

Knox fell to Illinois College 1-8 in the morning match and then 4-5 in the afternoon match against Dominican.

Brad Newland earned a 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 victory at #2 singles and teamed up with Dobbin Pine to drop a close 6-8 match at #2 doubles against the Blue Boys.

Newland and Pine rebounded in their doubles match against the Stars to post an 8-2 victory. Newland defeated his #2 singles counterpart 2-6, 7-6, 10-4. Pine also won 6-2, 6-2 at #4 singles.

Ajay Gustafson and Jared Schwarz defeated the #1 doubles from Dominican 8-2. "It was a tough match," said Schwarz. "Ajay was not feeling 100%, but we adjusted our game and we were successful."

The Prairie Fire returns to action against Lake Forest College on March 30.
