LAKE FOREST, Illinois—The Prairie Fire softball team dropped a conference doubleheader at Lake Forest on Friday afternoon.
The Foresters took a 4-0 lead in the third inning of game one. Knox rallied for two runs in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Casey Hipp and an RBI by Kylie Wolf. Lake Forest held on for the 4-2 victory.
The Foresters put up eight runs in the top of the second inning in game two, but Knox responded with a run in the bottom half and added another in the fourth. Lake Forest added a run in the fifth and another in the seventh. The Prairie Fire's rally came up short with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh and the Foresters won 10-4.
Katy Coseglia led Knox with three hits and a pair of RBI. She tied the school record for RBIs in a season at 36. Cammie Stein also added three hits and Clare Hensley notched a pair.
The Prairie Fire return to action on April 28 as they travel to Janesville to battle Ripon.
