Men's Tennis Competes at MWC Doubles Championships

MADISON, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire men's tennis team competed at the doubles portion of the MWC Conference Individual Tournament on Sunday.

Ajay Gustafson and Jared Schwarz defeated Drew Jorgensen and Marcus Austin from Ripon 8-5 in the opening round of #1 doubles. They fell to Bowen Mince and Ben Cobin from Grinnell 8-1 in the quarterfinal.

Brad Newland and Dobbin Pine fell to Junmo Kwon and Adrian Granados from Ripon 6-8 in the first round of #2 doubles. They then lost to Jonah Wheeland and Cameron Doerr of Illinois College 5-8 in the consolation semifinal.

Kyle Yang and Misha Broyles lost #3 doubles to Preston Wurtz and Daniel Garcia of Ripon in the first round. They then fell to Mawande Mayiga and Carson Chen of Lake Forest 0-8 in the consolation semifinal.

Knox won the Midwest Conference sportsmanship award.

"I'm so proud of these young men," said head coach Meredith Witherell. "College athletics is about more than winning and losing. It's about building character and setting a foundation for future success!"
