DANVILLE, Kentucky—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team defeating Spalding University 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night.
Jun Min scored in the 13
th minute to give Knox an early lead. He was assisted by Nick Janulis. Spalding tied the game at 32:57 and the teams headed into halftime tied 1-1.
Min scored another goal just 39 seconds into the second half, but the Eagles scored the equalizer in the 81
st minute to send the game to overtime.
Midway through the first overtime, Adetayo Adefioye scored for the fourth straight game to give the Prairie Fire the victory.
Knox outshot Spalding 15-13 and held a 9-7 advantage in shots on goal.
"It was an ugly game. We definitely did not play our best soccer," said head coach Brian O'Connor. "That is in large part to a tough Spalding side who forced us to grind the whole game and gave us all we could handle. Ultimately, we found a way to win and that is what good teams do. They find a way to get a result when things are not going well. All in all, a very successful weekend."
The Prairie Fire will continue their long road swing when they travel to Central on September 18.
