GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's tennis team dropped a 3-6 contest to Loras on Sunday afternoon to kick off their season.
Arthur Batista and Ajay Gustafson started things off with an 8-6 win at #1 doubles.
Brad Newland and Jared Schwarz also picked up an 8-4 victory at #2 doubles.
Batista then won his #1 singles matchup 7-6, 6-2 to start his career off with a pair of victories.
Dobbin Pine dropped a closely contest match at #5 singles, falling 4-6, 6-2, 6-7.
"We had some very close matches and really could have easily come out on top 6-3 rather than losing," said head coach Meredith Witherell. "All in all a good showing and we will get back to work to improve in the coming matches."
Knox returns to action on February 22 as they travel to Fontbonne.
