ST. LOUIS, Missouri—The Prairie Fire men's tennis team dropped a close 4-5 match at Webster on Sunday.
Arthur Batista and Ajay Gustafson defeated the Gorloks 8-4 at #1 doubles. Gustafson also won his #2 singles match 4-6, 6-1, 10-1.
Brad Newland picked up a 6-4, 6-1 victory at #3 singles and Jared Schwarz defeated his counterpart in #4 singles 6-3, 6-4.
Dobbin Pine came up just short at #5 singles, falling 4-6, 3-6.
"This was a competitive match and our guys played well," said head coach Meredith Witherell. "Webster is a tough team and I'm happy with how well we played."
Knox will have some time off before beginning Midwest Conference play on March 7 at Illinois College.
