DECATUR, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team claimed a 10-7 victory at Millikin on Sunday afternoon.

Knox grabbed a four run lead in the top of the first thanks to a two-RBI double by Brendan Powers and a two-RBI single by Matt Shover. The Big Blue tallied a run of their own in the botoom half of the inning.

The Prairie Fire came right back with two more runs in the second inning. Kendall Ballman scored on a double steal and Kobe Shutter plated Juston Woodard.

Knox tacked on a run in the fourth inning when Woodard came home again on an error by the centerfielder.

Millikin scored twice in the fifth to narrow the gap to 7-3. Prairie Fire starting pitcher shut down the Big Blue offense the next two innings to keep the score the same.

The Big Blue rallied in the eighth to tie the game against a trio of Knox relievers. Shutter got out of the inning with a big strikeout.

Trevan Lowtharp led off the top of the ninth with a hit by pitch and Shutter walked. Tristan Hannah laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt and Lowtharp and Shutter came around to score on a throwing error on the play. Hannah advanced to third and scored on a passed ball.

Owen Hoal came in to shut the door with a 1-2-3 inning in the ninth to earn the save.

Powers and Ballman led the Prairie Fire with two hits apiece. Powers and Shover finished with two RBI and Woodard scored three runs.

"We played a very good game today," said associate head coach James Clark. "We executed much better and Ponce gave us a quality start. Congrats to Owen Hoal on his first career save."

Knox will return to action when they head to Winter Haven, Florida for spring break.
