Men's Soccer Drops Close Game at Lawrence

APPLETON, Wisconsin - The Prairie Fire men's soccer game lost a close Midwest Conference game 2-1 at Lawrence.

The Vikings struck first with a penalty kick goal in the 17th minute, but Knox responded when Alex White was assisted by Martin Garcia at the 25:23 mark.

Lawrence sent the game into halftime with a 2-1 lead after scoring on another penalty kick in the 37th minute.

Despite getting off 16 shots in the second half, the Prairie Fire were unable to find the equalizer. Overall Knox outshot the Vikings 28-7 and held a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal.

"We got a lot of shots off today, but we'll have to get more quality shots off in the future," said head coach Brian O'Connor. "After a couple of losses, we will need to bounce back quickly as we have the most important games ahead of us. We still have one goal in mind and now we have to refocus."

The Prairie Fire will return to action as they host Ripon on October 16 for Family and Friends Weekend. The team will also celebrate senior day after the game.
