Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's soccer team defeated Illinois College 2-0 in their season opener on Wednesday night.

Alessandro Benelli put Knox on the board early with a penalty kick goal in the 12th minute of play. Raphael Adeyemi followed that up with another penalty kick goal at the 22:17 mark.

The Prairie Fire outshot the Blueboys 13-8 on the night, including a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal.

"It was great to get back out on the field and play," said head coach Brian O'Connor. "It has been a long time since we have been able to compete and it is always nice to win at IC."

Knox will return to action on March 27 as they host Illinois College.
