MONMOUTH, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team dropped a doubleheader at Monmouth on Monday afternoon.
The Fighting Scots plated four runs in the bottom of the second inning in game one to take an early lead. Monmouth added a run in the fourth and two in the sixth to earn the 9-0 victory.
Knox struck first in game two with a run in the top of the first, but the Fighting Scots reeled off 16 unanswered runs to win 16-1.
Brayden Bathgate, Ben Rogina, Chase Thies, and Kendall Ballman each tallied a hit on the day for the Prairie Fire.
EJ Roncone was the tough luck loser on the mound in game one, surrendering just two earned runs in 5.1 innings pitched.
Knox will return to action on April 17 as they host Cornell.
