Jacksonville, Illinois—The Prairie Fire softball team dropped a doubleheader at Illinois College on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Blues took an early lead in game one with two runs in the first inning and four in the second. Illinois College tacked on three more runs in the third and held on for the five inning 9-0 victory.
The Lady Blues scored in each of the first three innings again in game two, but Knox held them to just one more run and pushed the game to seven innings. Illinois College won 7-0.
Cammie Stein, Maya McEwen, Kenzie Funk, and Mady Ferris each tallied hits for the Prairie Fire. Funk banged a double for Knox in game two.
"Illinois College is a good team," said head coach Erin Rutledge. "We had some good moments, but we have to bring everything together. We still have a long way to go, the season is still very young."
Knox returns to action on April 6 as they host Cornell.
