RIVER FOREST, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's soccer team dropped their season opener 1-0 at Dominican on Wednesday afternoon.
The Stars struck early with a goal in the 13th minute. Dominican outshot Knox 11-6 overall, and 9-2 on goal.
Rafael Adeyemi had a late shot on goal in the 79th minute to give the Prairie Fire a chance, but the Stars' keeper came away with a save.
"It was definitely a tale of two halves," said head coach Brian O'Connor. "I thought we were a little sloppy in the first half, but much better in the second. We generated some good chances, but couldn't put them away. We can learn a lot from this game and get ready for another tough one on Saturday."
The Prairie Fire return to action on September 4 as they host Wartburg in their home opener.
