ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's soccer team fell in two overtimes on Saturday night at Augustana.
Knox and the Vikings played to a scoreless tie through regulation and the first overtime until Augustana found the back of the net about halfway through the second overtime.
The Prairie Fire outshot the Vikings 20-7 overall and held an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Knox outshot Augustana 6-1 in overtime, but the Vikings made their shot count.
Raphael Adeyemi led the Prairie Fire with five shots, all on goal. Martin Garcia also fired off two shots on goal.
"Augustana is a good team, but we had them on the ropes most of the game," said head coach Brian O'Connor. "We had our chances, but just didn't capitalize. Kudos to Augie for making a good shot when it counted."
The Prairie Fire return to action on September 21 when they host another CCIW foe in Illinois Wesleyan.
