Baseball Picks Up Win Over Wisconsin-Superior

DAVENPORT, Florida - The Prairie Fire baseball team picked up their first win of the season on Sunday with a 3-2 victory over Wisconsin-Superior.

Kendall Ballman hit a two-run homer in the second inning to give Knox an early lead. The Yellowjackets battled back with two runs in the fourth inning to tie the game up at 2-2.

Etienne Thomas worked a two-out walk in the bottom of the seventh inning and a pair of single by Flynn Hersh and Evan Laws brought him around to score the go ahead run.

Starting pitcher Matt Shover was stellar all game, but really turned it on in the final innings to earn the complete game victory. He allowed just one earned run on five hits and a walk while striking out 10.

"We played a complete game today," said associate head coach James Clark. "We didn't have our best game at the plate, but we battled and put the ball in play when it mattered. Wins like this are what make a team good and we have so much more in the tank."

The Prairie Fire will battle Keuka tomorrow to finish the spring break trip.
