GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team lost to Illinois College 11-8 in 10 innings on Wednesday afternoon.

The Blueboys scored twice in the first innings, but Knox came back with a six run second inning to take a 6-2 lead. The Prairie Fire added two more runs in the third. Illinois College chipped away at the lead and trailed just 8-7 in the ninth inning. Knox got the first two Blueboy batters out in the ninth and were down to the final strike, but a home-run tied the game and sent it to extra innings. Illinois College used an RBI single and a two-run homer in the 10th to take the lead.

EJ Roncone, Ben Bucher, and Jason Clark each tallied three hits for the Prairie Fire. Bucher and Clark homered and Roncone stole three bases.

"We had them the whole game," said associate head coach James Clark. "We just made a few mistakes late in the game that came back to haunt us. We continue to hit the ball well, but we need to shore some things up on defense."

Knox returns to action as they travel to Monmouth on April 28.
