BLOOMINGTON, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's soccer team dropped a close 4-3 match at Illinois Wesleyan on Tuesday night.
The Titans struck first with a goal in the 28th minute, but Knox responded with a score of their own less than two minutes later to tie the game. Martin Garcia converted on a penalty kick for the goal. Illinois Wesleyan scored again in the 37th minute to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Alex White found the back of the net twice in the first twenty minutes of the second half to give the Prairie Fire the lead. The Titans tied the game in the 77th minute and then scored in the final minute of the game to avoid a draw.
Knox outshot Illinois Wesleyan 15-10 overall, but the teams both managed seven shots on goal.
"We continue to fight back from deficits, but get caught losing focus at times," said head coach Kevwe Akpore. "We are close to putting it all together, but need to focus for 90 minutes."
The Prairie Fire return to action as they travel to North Park University on September 17.
