GALESBURG, Ill. ­— The Knox College athletics department announced its Male and Female Athletes of the Week for events that took place between Nov. 11 through Nov. 18, with junior Carl Dortch of the basketball team and first-year Mary Stockdale of the women's cross country team earning the honors.

The Prairie Fire men's basketball team had just one game last week, but Dortch had the best game of his career, scoring a personal-best 15 points on 7-of-10 field goals with five rebounds in 31 minutes of action in an heartbreaking overtime defeat at Millikin last Tuesday. It was just his second game registering double-digit points, but the forward and local native from Galesburg demonstrated that he is ready to play a bigger role on the floor this season.

Stockdale, running in her first NCAA Regional, continued to slash time off her 6K runs, recording a personal best of 27:58.7. That shaved almost 16 seconds off her time from the Midwest Conference Championship two weeks prior, her previous best, and more than a minute-and-a-half from her first collegiate 6K time at the beginning of the fall.

The Knox Athletes of the Week will return in two weeks after the Thanksgiving holiday on Dec. 3.
