Softball falls to University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point

PEORIA, Illinois - The Prairie Fire softball team dropped a single game to University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point 10-1, to conclude their time at the Louisville Slugger Dome.

The Pointers plated four runs in the bottom of the first inning and one more in the bottom of the second to take a 5-0 lead going into the third inning.

UWSP continued their run with an additional two runs in third and three more in the fourth.

The Prairie Fire managed to push one run across the plate with an RBI from Morgan Bean in the top of the fifth. Ultimately, Knox was unable to produce anymore runs, giving the Pointers a 10-1 win in five innings.

Liv Dunn, Maddie Hicks, and Janet Lentini tallied one hit a piece for the Prairie Fire.

"Stevens Point is a very tough team, and all in all they managed to get a quick jump on us that left us chasing for the rest of the game" said Head Coach Erin Clark. "We struggled a bit at the plate today, but overall I am happy with how we performed over the past couple of days. We were able to get our first game jitters out and we will use these few games as a way to get better and prepare before we head out on our spring break trip".

Knox will take a short break and return to action on March 15th with a match-up against Earlham College as they travel to Florida to play in The Spring Games.
