Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rough Night for Men's Soccer at North Central

The host Cardinals handed the Prairie Fire a 6-0 defeat

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — It wasn't the Knox men's soccer team's night as the Prairie Fire suffered a 6-0 defeat at the feet of North Central College Cardinals on Wednesday evening at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Jared Urueta provided two of the six goals for North Central (3-2-3) as the hosts outshot Knox (2-4-1) by a 23-11 margin.

The Cardinals didn't waste much time in denting the scoreboard as Urueta recorded his first goal of the game in the sixth minute of action. A penalty kick was converted by Luis Aviles little more than 10 minutes later, and Aviles teamed up to give Urueta his second goal in the 22nd minute for a commanding 3-0 lead. When North Central tacked on one more goal with about a minute and a half remaining, the second half was mostly academic.

  • The Prairie Fire played three different goalkeepers who combined to make seven saves, while the defense saved another shot on goal.
  • Junior Arito Nakamichi fired off four of Knox's 11 shots.
  • The loss is the third in a row for the Prairie Fire after starting the season 2-1-1.

Knox will play the final game of its season-opening eight-game road trip on Saturday, Sept. 21 when the Prairie Fire travels to Bloomington, Illinois, to take on Illinois Wesleyan at Neis Field. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m. with live video and stats of the contest accessible through the official athletics website of Knox College, PrairieFire.Knox.edu.
