GALESBURG, Ill. — With a bright sun and warm temperatures came a little more wind as the seven teams competing at the Knox College Invitational found scoring to be a bit more difficult in the second round compared to yesterday's calmer weather. But the host Prairie Fire maintained their position in third place, carding a 26-over 314 to end the invitational at 34-over par, 21 strokes behind team champion, Central College. Augustana College claimed second at 24-over, while Wisconsin-Stevens Point was two shots behind Knox in fourth.

The low round for the Prairie Fire in the second round was turned in by first-year Thomas Lyaudet with a 76 (+4). Consistency was difficult for all 41 entrants on the 6,463-yard, par-72 course at Soangetaha Country Club, but Lyaudet managed to sink four birdies, three of which came on the par-5 holes. The rookie closed out the tournament with a 5-over 149 to tie for sixth overall.

Yesterday's co-leader, junior Pranav Nandakumar, carded a 79 (+7) today with a pair of birdies today. But thanks to his 3-under 69 on Saturday, he tied for fourth overall with a 4-over 148.

Junior Gabriel Newman matched Nandakumar on this day with a 79 to tie for 20th overall at 13-over par, and sophomore Nathaniel Zug, who had Knox's most consistent performance today with 10 pars and eight bogeys, also contributed to the team score with an 8-over 80.

Next up for the Prairie Fire is the Forester Spring Invite, hosted by Lake Forest College, on April 18-19 (Friday and Saturday) at Countryside Golf Club on the Prairie Course.
