The Knox College softball team dropped a pair of games on a cold Wednesday afternoon, falling to the University of Health Science and Pharmacy 11-1, 11-0. The Prairie Fire (5-11) are now off until next Tuesday when they open Midwest Conference play at home against Monmouth College in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
UHSP took an early lead Wednesday, going up 2-0 in the first inning. They added one run in the second, seven in the third, and one in the fourth.
Knox scored its lone run in the bottom of the fifth as Kylie Thomson plated Cheyanne Merkel. Merkel also finished with the lone Knox hit.
In game two, UHSP again started fast, scoring five in the first. The Eutectics added two in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth. Merkel again had the only Prairie Fire hit.
