The Knox College baseball team dropped a Sunday afternoon contest at Illinois College, falling 12-2 in seven innings. The Prairie Fire are next at home on Wednesday, taking on Eureka in the regular-season home finale.
Knox (5-31, 3-15) trailed 5-0 after five innings, but in the sixth, the squad was able to score, plating a pair of runs. Tyler Thiem singled home, Aidan McMurtrie, and Buckie Zamora.
Unfortunately for the Prairie Fire, Illinois College quickly responded in the bottom of the inning with five runs of their own. Additionally, IC added a pair in the seventh to end the game early.
Only three hits came from Knox on the day.
