ELMHURST, IL - On the road, Knox fell behind 1-0 and were able to pick up a couple goals in the second frame, but surrendered one late in the contest forcing a 2-2 draw.
Elmhurst got on the scoreboard early in the match, with a goal just five minutes in.
Diogo Pereira denied the next two shots in the half and the Prairie Fire went into the break trailing by just one.
The Prairie Fire earned a penalty kick less than 10 minutes into the second frame, and
Kestervens Dera placed it in the back of the net to knot the score at one apiece.
Pereira made another pair of saves following the goal. Then in the 84th minute, Dera found
Santiago Henriques for his first goal of the season and the lead at 2-1.
Elmhurst didn't roll over as they got a late push and were able to sneak one past Pereira to pin a draw on Knox.
The Blue Jays won five more corner kicks than the Prairie Fire throughout the contest, but Knox stood tall on the defensive end. Pereira finished with four saves, increasing his season total to 14.
Dera tacked on another goal and assist to his totals, racking up eight points on the fresh campaign.
Knox will take a day off and then head up to Rockford for an afternoon match at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
