Academic All-Midwest Conference Spring Team … quickly earned a spot in the starting lineup as a rookie, playing in 34 of the 38 games, starting 32 (19 at second base, 12 at first base and one at shortstop) … recorded six multi-hit games, including three in a row … first collegiate hit was a double against Anderson University in the third game of the season … delivered his first RBI two days later at Eureka … went 2-for-5 with two runs in the 17-0 blowout of Principia … walked three times — once intentionally — and scored a run to help overcome a six-run deficit and beat Keuka, 8-7 … hit safely in 10 games over an 11-game stretch, hitting .390 (16-for-41) during that time … rapped out a season-high three hits in the second game against Grinnell, scoring twice and driving in two more … went 2-for-5 with a double and a season-high three RBIs the next day versus the Pioneers … final hit of the season was the same as hit first — a double, this time against Ripon … also named Freshman of the Fall by the team.
