Steck has helped the Prairie Fire rewrite the offensive record books since he's been on the Knox baseball staff.  He's coached four Midwest Conference Players of the Year -- Matt Briggs in 2006, Paul Bennett in 2008, Kevin Malone in 2009, and Caleb Weaver in 2013 -- as well as numerous other All-Midwest Conference performers.

Steck played for coach Jami Isaacson at Illinois College and brings a wealth of Midwest Conference baseball experience to Knox as a three-time All-Midwest Conference first team selection at second base (1995, 1997, 1998).  He was named the 1997 Midwest Conference Player of the Year as a junior.
Steck was also an American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region first team pick and an honorable mention All-American in 1997. He holds multiple records at both Illinois College and Galesburg High School.
