Glenn Prout began his coaching career at Knox in 2009. He served two years as a student-assistant for the track and field program, coaching sprints in 2009 and jumps/pole vault in 2010.
After leaving for a year, Prout returned as an assistant for the indoor track and field team in 2012 to coach jumps and pole vault. He continued in the spring of 2012 as an outdoor track and field assistant, coaching jumps, pole vault, and javelin. Prout most recently has focused on coaching jumps.
Prout, a member of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams as a student at Knox, earned letters in 2003 and 2004. He still remains on the men’s indoor track and field program’s all-time top 10 individual list in the long jump (2004) and the triple jump (2005).
Prout also earned three letters as a punter for the Knox football team. He was a member of the squad from 2003 to 2005, and in 2009. During his football career he set 13 all-time top 10 punting marks, including seven in the top five.
Prout is the school record-holder for the most punts downed inside the inside the 20-yard line in a game – 5 in 2003 against Grinnell College – and he shares the record for the most punts downed inside the 20 yard line in a career with 33. He was named the team’s Special Teams Player of the Year in 2009.
Prout was added to the cross country coaching staff as an assistant in the summer of 2012.
Prout is pursuing a double master's degree in sport management and sport coaching from the United States Sports Academy. In addition, he recently completed the USTFCCCA Academy Jumps Specialist Course.
