The Prairie Fire got a strong performance from its top seeded golfer and tied for second out of five teams April 9 at the Monmouth College Spring Invitational at Gibson Woods Golf Course.

A day after the Fire earned a 26-stroke victory against the Fighting Scots (392-418) in the Knox College Spring Invitational at Soangetaha Country Club, the team shot a 399 to share second place with the Scots.  The tournament was the last event of the spring season for the Prairie Fire.

Senior Jessica DeMory (Schererville, Indiana) finished first individually with a 92, two strokes ahead of runner-up Jessica Berens of Augustana College.  Senior Rachel Talpers (Littleton, Colorado), who had the top score at the Knox College Spring Invitational (87), carded a 96 and tied Augie's Kelly Farina and Monmouth's Whitney Bergen for fifth place overall.

One of the three Augustana College entries in the field shot a 383 to take first place in the team standings.  The two other Augustana entries turned in scores of 406 and 465.

Sophomore Mia Savard (Menifee, California) finished 11th individually with a 99, senior Claire Anderson (Galesburg, Illinois) shot a 112 for 20th place and Sarah Martin's 114 tied her for 22nd place.
