The Prairie Fire women's golf team is improving with each meet.

Knox, playing in its third tournament in less than a week, placed fifth out of six teams September 13 in the Illinois College Midweek Invitational at the Links Golf Course in Jacksonville, Illinois.

The Prairie Fire, after opening the season with a team score of 444 in the Knox College Invitational on September 9, followed with a 432 the next day in the Fighting Scots Invitational.  Both one-round tournaments were played at Gibson Woods Golf Course in Monmouth.

Knox shaved 10 strokes off its team score at IC by shooting a season-best 422.  The Prairie Fire finished 19 shots ahead of sixth place MacMurray College.

The University of Illinois at Springfield won the team title with a 325, 22 strokes ahead of runner-up Lincoln College.  McKendree University placed third in the team standings with a score of 360.

Junior Mia Savard (Menifee, California) put together her lowest round of the season.  She carded a 91 to finish 15th individually.  Savard previously shot a pair of 99s in the Prairie Fire's first two tournaments and brought her season average down to 96.3.

Illinois-Springfield had the top two finishers: Paige Luker with a 4-over par 76 and Caitlin Fox's 9-over 81.
