Women's Golf Fifth at Central College Invitational

The Prairie Fire played its first two-round tournament of the season and placed fifth at the Central College Fall Invitational Friday and Saturday in Pella, Iowa.

Knox began with an opening round score of 485.  Junior Monica Price (Rochester, Illinois) carded a 99 to lead the team, followed by junior Mia Savard (Menifee, California) at 103.

The Fire shot a second round 482 to finish at 967.  Price improved by one stroke, firing a 98 in round two, to wind up at 197 in the tournament and place 21st individually.

Savard shot a 105 in the second round and concluded play at 208, finishing 23rd overall.

Host Central College won the team title its two-round score of 682.  Grinnell College was second, 11 strokes off the pace at 693.  Simpson College (729) was third and Coe College (769) fourth.

The Prairie Fire plays its final tournament of the fall season October 1.  The team travels to Grinnell, Iowa to take part in the Grinnell College Invitational. 

The Midwest Conference Championships begin October 7 at the Rail Golf Course in Springfield, Illinois.
