Galesburg, IL – Mother Nature has caused one baseball doubleheader to be postponed and another to be moved to a different venue.
The Prairie Fire’s home opening games against Loras College originally scheduled to be played on Tuesday, March 26 were moved to Thursday, March 28 because of the snow that fell last weekend. Those games have been postponed because Blodgett Field is not yet playable. A make-up date is pending.
However, the Knox doubleheader on Saturday, March 30 at Beloit College has been moved to Blodgett Field. The Prairie Fire and the Buccaneers will play two nine inning games on Saturday, with the first contest starting at 1:00 p.m.
Knox (4-4) enters the twinbill against the Buccaneers after winning three games in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. The Prairie Fire defeated Otterbein University (OH) 8-7 in the last game of the trip, snapping the Cardinals’ 12 game winning streak.
Beloit (3-5) started the season 1-5 before sweeping Becker College (MA) 9-1 and 12-11 on March 9 in Leesburg, Florida. The Buccaneers haven’t played since.
