Monmouth, IL – The Prairie Fire received a second top five performance from the team’s senior leader in as many days on Saturday.
Mia Savard (Menifee, CA, Paloma Valley) fired a 95 on a very windy day on the greens and placed fifth in the Fighting Scots Invitational, hosted by Monmouth College at Gibson Woods Golf Course. She finished third with an 88 in the Prairie Fire Spring Invitational on Friday at Soangetaha Country Club.
Knox had three golfers in the tournament, one short of fielding a team, so each played as individuals.
The two teams in the field, Monmouth College and Augustana College, also participated in the tournament hosted by Knox. This time Monmouth got the best of Augie by five strokes – shooting a 374 to Augustana’s 379 – after the Vikings won by five strokes against the Fighting Scots (364 to 369) on Friday.
Monmouth’s Hannah Long placed first with an 84. Augustana’s Kelly Farina shot a 90 to finish in second place. Breanne Ford of Monmouth was third with a 94, Samantha Berlage of Augustana College finished fourth with a 94 followed by Savard’s 95.
Junior Sarah Martin (Crown Point, IN, Merrillville) shot a 112 and junior Lizzy Rodgers (Homewood, IL, Homewood-Flossmoor) carded a 113 for the Prairie Fire.
Knox is scheduled to play next in the Augustana College Spring Invite on April 18 in Davenport, Iowa.
