Galesburg, IL – The Prairie Fire continue to make history after defeating Cornell College 4-0 in a Midwest Conference match on Saturday at Jorge Prats Field.
Knox (10-1, 3-0 MWC) won for the 10th consecutive time, which sets a new men's soccer record. The shutout is the eighth this season by goalie
Sean Dockrell (Dublin, Ireland, San Bernadino CC), which is also a new all-time mark. The Prairie Fire tied the record for wins in a season also held by the 1987 and 1988 men's soccer teams.
Sophomore
Charlie Harned (Webster Groves, MO, Clayton) scored a pair of goals and senior
Maxwell Gatyas (Plymouth, WI, Plymouth Comprehensive) had two assists to lead Knox offensively.
Harned gave the Fire a 1-0 lead with his sixth goal of the season, assisted by Gatyas, 22:37 into the match.
Harned scored again just 58 seconds later on an assist from sophomore
Nathaniel Logie (Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Queens Royal College) for a 2-0 lead.
Knox added one more score seconds before the end of the period. Sophomore
Charles Edemba (Abia, Nigeria, Santana Rhetoric Institute) sent a shot past Cornell goalie Connor Hagen on an assist by Gatyas at the 44:55 mark.
Logie scored the last goal of the contest, his team-leading 13th of the season, in the 86th minute. The loss was the fourth straight for the Rams (2-7, 0-3 MWC).
The team hosted International Soccer Day before the match to celebrate Knox College's diversity. People from around the world were encouraged to bring their country's flag and wave it proudly at the match.

The Prairie Fire are off until October 5 when they host Grinnell College in a conference match-up at 1:30 p.m.
The Pioneers (3-6, 1-2 MWC) beat Beloit College 4-1 at home on Saturday to snap a string of three straight losses.
