RIPON, Wisconsin – The Prairie Fire remain perfect through three Midwest Conference matches after winning 5-1 at Ripon College on Saturday.
Knox led the Red Hawks 2-1 at the intermission and then pulled away with three unanswered goals over the last 45 minutes of play.
The Prairie Fire (8-2, 3-0 MWC) took a 1-0 lead on the seventh goal of the year by junior
Nathaniel Logie (Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Queens Royal College), assisted by sophomore
Terence Lau (Shanghai, China, Shanghai American School), 15:25 into the match.
Ripon (2-9-1, 0-5 MWC) answered with a goal less than five minutes later to tie the contest, 1-1. The tie lasted just 30 seconds as Lau sent a shot past Red Hawk goalie Cody Messerschmidt to put Knox back on top 2-1.
Neither team scored the remaining 24:20 of the first half. The Prairie Fire dominated the attack with a 16-4 advantage in total shots, including 8-2 on goal.
Knox increased its lead to 3-1 on the second goal of the match by Logie, his team-leading eighth of the season, 52 seconds into the second stanza. Sophomore
Bernardo Gasperazzo (Montes Claros, Brazil, Colegio Padrao) was credited with the assist.

Jacob Ly (Beavercreek, OH, Beavercreek) put the wraps on the scoring for Knox with a pair of goals. His first one at the 66:27 mark, assisted by junior
Charlie Harned (Webster Groves, MO, Clayton), gave the visitors a 4-1 lead. Ly followed with his second goal of the match and third of the season at 84:39.
The Prairie Fire finished with 23 total shots and 15 of them were on target as Messerschmidt recorded 10 saves in goal for Ripon. Logie, Harned, Lau, and Ly combined for 11 of the 15 shots on goal for Knox, which won its seventh straight match.
Senior goalie
Sean Dockrell (Dublin, Ireland, San Bernadino CC) had two saves in his eighth win of the season minding the net. He's allowed only three goals during the seven game winning streak, and one of them was an own goal.
Ripon suffered its fifth straight loss and fell to 0-6 at home.

The win was the third in a row for the Blueboys (6-3-1, 2-0 MWC), who join Knox, Lake Forest College (2-6-2, 1-0-2 MWC), Carroll University (5-5-1, 3-0 MWC), and
#24 ranked St. Norbert College (7-0-1, 1-0-1 MWC) as the only remaining teams without a conference loss to date.
