LAKE FOREST, Illinois – The Prairie Fire's season ended with a 7-2 loss to nationally ranked and undefeated Lake Forest College on Saturday.
The Foresters (18-0, 10-0 MWC), ranked #17 in the most recent
National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll and #16 by
D3Soccer.com, raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first 15 minutes of the match.
Michelle Greeneway scored the first of her four goals off the first of four assists from Sam Hillis 3:53 into the match for a 1-0 LFC lead. Holly Lesperance made it 2-0 with her 11th goal of the year, assisted again by Hillis, at the 6:01 mark. Greeneway knocked in her second goal and 25th of the season 14:34 into the contest for a 3-0 lead by the Foresters. Lesperance found the back of the net again about 10 minutes later to put Lake Forest up 4-0 at the intermission.
Greeneway added two more scores at 50:19 and 60:08, respectively, sandwiched around Amy Sherman's first goal of the season at the 57:44 mark, to close out the scoring for Lake Forest.

Kelsie Pos (Salt Lake City, UT, Skyline) scored her third goal of the year for Knox 63:10 into the contest. First-year
Kayla Brown (Sacramento, CA, Wilton Christian) sent a shot past LFC goalie Caroline Kirsch about 11 minutes later, her ninth goal of the season, to account for the final score.
Lake Forest outshot the Prairie Fire 13-3 on goal and 27-5 overall. Brown led Knox (3-14, 0-10 MWC) with four shots, two of them on goal.
Sophomore
Theresa Birzer (Fort Dodge, IA, Fort Dodge) recorded six saves in goal for Knox.
