GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire continued their undefeated start with a 103-87 victory over Fontbonne University.
Knox (3-0) started slow, but found their stride in the second half. The Fire were down 26-22 after the first quarter and 47-43 at halftime, but were able to tie the game in the third before burying Fontbonne in the fourth, outscoring them 37-21 for a final score of 103-87. The second half was better for the Fire overall as they shot better from three and from the floor.
Although Fontbonne led the Fire in bench points 65-37, Knox dominated in points off turnovers, 33-12, and second chance points, 14-4.
Hailey Leinart (Gurnee, IL, Warren Township) led the way in scoring for the Fire with 19 points, 15 of them coming from long range.
Karlie Thorn (Henderson, NV, Coronado) got hot in the second half, scoring 11 of her 18 points.
Jamie Blue (Urbana, IL, University) had a big night for the Fire, scoring 18 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and dishing out six assists.
Jasmine Binion (Davenport, IA, Assumption) added eight rebounds for the Fire as well.
Knox will look to continue their perfect start to the season on December 2 against Monmouth College to open the Midwest Conference season.
