EUREKA, Illinois—The Prairie Fire limited their turnovers at Eureka on Wednesday night, but still finished on the losing end.
Knox (1-7) trailed by four at halftime after taking an early lead. The Prairie Fire battled back to a tie with about 12:00 left to play, but the Red Devils pulled ahead for good just 30 seconds later. Eureka cruised to a 107-97 victory.
Caylab Herrera (Middletown, DE, Middletown) finished with a game-high 26 points while grabbing seven rebounds.
Robert Suntken (Naperville, IL, Naperville Central) put up 16 points and
Braden Adams (Mount Vernon, MO, Mount Vernon) scored 15 points.
Marcellis Davis (Chicago, IL, Curie) and
Deandre Weathersby (Chicago, IL, Kenwood Academy) each tallied 13 points. Davis, who has been shooting well of late, hit 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Weathersby led Knox with seven assists.
Grant Billimack (Metamora, IL, Metamora) grabbed a team-leading nine rebounds and dished out five assists.
The Prairie Fire will not play again until January 2 when they take on Ripon at home.
