FOND DU LAC, Wisconsin—Despite trailing during the entire first half, the Prairie Fire pulled off a victory against Marian, winning 4-2 on the road.
"Marian has real talent up front that posed us some issues early," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "At the half, they had executed on one more play than us and we were in a 1-0 hole."
Knox (5-0) finally broke through at 49:34, when senior
Abdulsalam Oganla (Lagos, Nigeria, The International Academy) knocked in a header to tie the game at one apiece.
Marian responded in short fashion with a goal at 55:30 to retake the lead at 2-1.
Senior
Nathaniel Logie (Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Queens Royal College) answered with both the game-tying and go-ahead goals in short succession at 57:39 and 59:18.
First-year
Joe Dyer (Kansas City, MO, Oak Park) added some cushion with his sixth goal of the season at 89:21. Dyer and Logie lead the team in goals for the season.
"At halftime, we problem-solved and I thought our best period was the first 15 minutes of the second half," added Sheikh. "To outscore Marian 4-1 in the second stanza highlights our own ability going forward. However, we need to piece together 90 minutes soon or we'll taste defeat."
