Men's Soccer Plays to 0-0 Tie with Concordia (Wis.)

GALESBURG, Illinois—While the Prairie Fire remain undefeated in their 2015 campaign, they failed to win for the first time this season.

Knox (5-0-1) and Concordia-Wisconsin (3-1-1) played to a 0-0 draw in double overtime on Sunday.

"We held up well to the test and were able to get some clear chances from the run of the play, but just couldn't find the final touch," said head coach Tyler Sheikh.

The Prairie Fire outshot the Falcons 17-14 and 9-7 on goal. First-year goalkeeper Justin Dunn (Winnetka, IL, New Trier) had seven saves in the net for his first career shutout.

"As phase I of the season draws to a close, I think it was great for us to play a well drilled team that's big, strong, and fast," Sheikh added. "As we open phase II of the season, MWC play, our record goes out the door and we'll be ready to compete every game like we did today."

Knox begins conference play on September 19 at 3:30 p.m., taking on Grinnell College at home. The Prairie Fire defeated the Pioneers 3-0 on the road the last time the two schools faced off, but the upcoming match is expected to be a challenge; Grinnell boasted one of the best defenses in the league last season.
