GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire defeated Lake Forest for the second time in three years on Saturday.
Knox (7-1-1, 2-1 MWC) improved to 5-0 at home for the season and bounced back from their first loss of the season on Tuesday.
Abdulsalam Oganla (Lagos, Nigeria, The International Academy) got the scoring started early with a goal at the 5:08 mark in the first half.
James Barrington (Pontefract, England, St. Wilfrid's) added a goal with less than five minutes to play in the first half.
Terence Lau (Shanghai, China, Shanghai American School) picked up the assist.
Lake Forest outshot the Prairie Fire 15-11 and 7-4 on goal, but Knox saw some great opportunities.
"Hats off to Dan as I thought his team were dangerous all game and, for long stretches, had the better play," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "But we were always a threat to pop up for a chance as well."
Goalkeeper
Justin Dunn (Winnetka, IL, New Trier) finished with seven saves to pick up his second shutout of the season.
"I'm proud that we stood tall, just enough, on a lot of set pieces to keep the shutout. In the end, a well-contested match between two good teams," concluded Sheikh.
The Prairie Fire will face Luther College at home on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
