GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team defeated Ripon on Sunday to remain undefeated in conference play and earn a berth in the conference tournament.
Knox (12-3-1, 6-0-1 MWC) earned their first goal about halfway through the first half when
Hank Horwitz (Singapore, Singapore, Singapore American School) put one in on a header.
Jake Ly (Vandalia, OH, Beavercreek) and
Charlie Raymond (Portland, OR, Central Catholic) assisted and the Prairie Fire took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Erick Karkut (Mount Prospect, IL, Prospect) and Ly both added goals in quick succession in the 71
st and 74
th minutes. The last goal was an own goal by Ripon.
"It took us a while today, but we looked the more threatening side the whole 90," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "Ripon looked good aerially on the defensive side so we looked more ourselves in the second half as we found feet with our passing and scored a few good goals. The fellas are excited for the challenge of our trip to Mount Vernon."

Knox will look to remain atop the conference standings when they travel to Cornell on October 22.
