MOUNT VERNON, Iowa—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team defeated Cornell 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Knox (13-3-1, 7-0-1 MWC) scored at the 35:31 mark when
Phelipe Graske (Geneva, IL, Geneva) assisted
Charlie Raymond (Portland, OR, Central Catholic). The Prairie Fire were able to hold on for the win, allowing the Rams only two shots in the game.
"It was a very tough outing as Nate's team defended very well for the full 90," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "A very mature performance from our guys as we got our goal and saw the game through. We are very excited for our game against St. Norbert, one more win and the guys will reclaim their regular season championship."
Knox hosts St. Norbert on October 29 with a chance to earn the conference title.
