Football Falls to Monmouth in 128th Turkey Bowl

GALESBURG, Illinois—The Knox College Football team bid farewell to their seniors by playing in the 128th Bronze Turkey game against Monmouth College. Knox (2-8) gave their best effort against Monmouth (10-0), but came out on the wrong end.

Although the final score showed 57-9, the Prairie Fire played the Fighting Scots tough all game, especially after the first quarter. Knox was able to keep their hopes alive with forced turnovers and quality drives, but just struggled to find the end zone. The one man able to find the end zone was Brady Raab (Warren, IL, Warren) on a 7-yard pass from Matt McCaffrey (Wilmette, IL, New Trier).

Logan Hollis (Toulon, IL, Stark County) had a quality game on the defensive end for Knox as he recorded eight tackles and Quinn Sharp (Beaumont, CA, Beaumont) had his second interception in as many weeks for the Fire.

Knox said farewell to six seniors after the game. Brock Gabel (Bourbonnais, IL, Bishop McNamara), Joe Chirbas (Kenosha, WI, Kenosha St. Joseph), Jack Donahue (Serena, IL, Ottawa Marquette), Connor Niemiec (Oak Lawn, IL, Oak Lawn), Jordan Quertermous (Eldorado, IL, Harrisburg), and Jacob Paul (Quincy, IL, Quincy) all played their final game in a Prairie Fire uniform on Saturday.

Knox finished the season at 2-8, 2-6 in the Midwest Conference and will look to continue building next season.
