GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team fell to Eureka 84-57 on Saturday afternoon.
Knox (0-3) stormed to an early 18-8 lead, but the Red Devils crept back to force a 25-25 tie with just over eight minutes in the first half. The Prairie Fire kept the game close, but Eureka finished the half strong to take a 38-32 lead into halftime. Knox worked back to only a 5-point deficit at the 15:46 mark in the second half, but the Red Devils took control from there to cruise to victory.
Marcellis Davis (Chicago, IL, Curie) scored a team-high 18 points on 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. He added six rebounds.
Marko Protic (Niles, IL, Maine East) led the Prairie Fire with 10 rebounds and
Eric Thompson (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg) added eight points and eight rebounds.
Knox hosts St. Norbert in their conference opener on December 2.
