Men's Basketball Downs Grinnell

GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire defeated Grinnell 109-101 on Wednesday night to pick up their first conference win of the season.

Knox (2-20, 1-16) outscored the Pioneers 55-51 in the first half despite being down by 12 points halfway through the stanza. The teams went back and forth early in the second half, but the Prairie Fire took the lead for good at the 12:35 mark. Knox did not shoot a single three-pointer during the game. The win was the first for the Prairie Fire over Grinnell since January 4, 2006.

Braden Adams (Mount Vernon, MO, Mount Vernon) led Knox in scoring with a career-high 27 points on 15-of-16 shooting from the free-throw line. Caylab Herrera (Middletown, DE, Middletown) finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds to complete the double-double. Deandre Weathersby (Chicago, IL, Kenwood Academy) added 16 points and a team-leading eight assists. DJ Lewis (Chino Hills, CA, Chino Hills) accumulated 11 points while Grant Billimack (Metamora, IL, Metamora) and Jonathan Damota (Miami Springs, FL, Miami Springs) each scored 10 to round out the double-digit scorers.

Knox will look to finish the season strong when they travel to Ripon on February 20.
