GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire dropped a doubleheader to Beloit on Sunday afternoon.
Knox (2-9) failed to get much going in game one and lost 14-1. In game two, Beloit took an early lead and held it despite a late push from the Prairie Fire.
Drake Sykes (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg) finished 4-for-8 at the plate to lead the Prairie Fire.
Ryan Weitendorf (New Lenox, IL, Lincoln-Way East) hit safely in three of his eight at bats, including two home-runs and three RBI.
Tristyn Ruiz (Waukegan, IL, Waukegan),
Alex Bell (Elgin, IL, Burlington Central), and
Matt McCaffrey (Wilmette, IL, New Trier) also tallied three hits apiece.
Andrew Recker (Huntingburg, IN, Southridge) added two hits in five at bats.
Knox will remain on their home stand when they take on Iowa Wesleyan on April 6.
